Event Location
The Old Kowen Homestead Recreation Area is located in Kowen Forest off Sutton Road, north-east of Canberra on the way to Queanbeyan. It is the site of one of Canberra’s earliest settlements dating back to the early 1800s.
The Old Kowen Homestead Recreation Area is popular for camping, horse riding, mountain biking, picnics and bbqs.
The site has also hosted the Australian Sled Dogging Championships, the Mont 24 Hour Mountain Bike Event and Rogaining events. It has also hosted the last two Dragon Dreaming Festivals.
The access to the site is via a good quaility, well maintained dirt road, easily accessible to 2wd vehicles.
